Introducing innovative thinking Daimler sets up an IT innovation lab

Daimler Group established the world's first IT innovation laboratory in Beijing with the aim of using IT technology and innovative thinking to improve and optimize production, sales, after-sales, financial services and R&D to provide better solutions for enterprises. At the same time, it can better serve consumers.
In the innovation lab, the most important thing about prototype development is speed and flexibility. In the most central part of the lab we can see two cases that developers have developed. One of them is a mobile phone application for the trunk space of the car. Just scan the bar code that wants to load the goods, and the app can measure whether the goods can be loaded into the car. The application has been showed as prototype at this year's Frankfurt International Car Exhibition.
In addition to this practical app, the Innovation Lab has developed another system that makes life easier: express delivery to the car. This system allows the courier to obtain the authorization to unlock the trunk of the vehicle when the owner is not present, and put the courier package into the trunk.
The source of the innovative laboratory's solution development comes from the brainstorming of the R&D staff, the inspirational results, and the specific needs of customers and consumers. How are these requirements learned? The answer is another focus of the lab: big data and predictive analytics.
